As we work and learn about Networking we will encounter many acronyms and network items and objects that we will need to define. Your assignment is to choose 10 terms to define and add to our glossary page. You will need to research about the glossary term or acronym, and then make a new page under the glossary page as a place to write up your definitions. - Choose a term.
- Create a new page under the Glossary of terms page.
- Research what the word or acronym means.
- Cite your references.
- Add the term to the list and point the URL field to the new page your just wrote.
- We will go over this procedure once in class.
- Each student will do ten of these and it will count as an assignment towards your final grade.

Your first assignment is a research/writing assignment. I believe that having some knowledge of the history of the Internet gives us a framework for deeper understanding of how networking has been setup. I am sure that there are many resources that can be used to learn more about this subject, here are a few I think will help you. There are many source links in the wikipedia page to follow to expand your knowledge.
- Read Chapter one of the textbook
- Research The History of the Internet
- Include key dates
- Key people that were responsible for the technologies
- Key technology inventions that enabled the build out of the Internet
- Write and collaborate on a History of the Internet Report
- Work as a group on a shared google doc (one for each group) to build your information for your part of the timeline - Group A will work on the time frame from pre 60's through the 1980's. Group B will work on the time frame of 1990's through the present day.
- When the research is finished collaborate on a Prezi Presentation to build out a timeline presentation for the project.
- If you are opposed to having to work with a group you have the option to write your own summary as an indivudual.
Due 4/1/2014 History of the Internet - Pre 1960s to 1980sHistory of the Internet - Pre 1960s to 1980s
